The ENSG (École Nationale Supérieure de Géologie) is a major French engineering school, at the University of Lorraine. It trains geological engineers capable of occupying the highest positions in companies operating in the fields of geoscience: mining, geoenergy, civil engineering, water resources, environment. The School occupies a building of approximately 3,000 m² devoted to teaching, with around forty academic staff and around twenty technical and administrative staff. The consolidated budget is approximately 3 million Euro.
The ENSG is looking for a Professor of Geosciences and Geochemistry to participate in general ENSG teaching program, and in field schools. Candidates must be able to teach in English without difficulty.
The professor’s main teaching mission will be to strengthen and develop teaching in cross-disciplinary themes addressing current issues of energy, environmental and climate crises and transitions, and to create and develop new courses in this domain. The new program of courses, to be built in collaboration with other University departments, will include teaching in geosciences but also in relevant socio-economic disciplines (human sciences, legal, scientific communication, decision making). Courses will be integrated into the ENSG engineering degree program, national and international Masters and within the framework of continuing education (industrial and academic partners, business executives, administrations).

The CRPG is a research laboratory with around 95 staff and doctoral students working in the field of Earth and Planetary Sciences. The CRPG includes one of the largest geochemical facilities in France, specializing in isotopic geochemistry with a wide range of applications. With a strong tradition of fundamental scientific research, the CRPG supports a wide range of interests from the creation of the solar system to Earth system science. Current research activities are grouped into four themes: Cosmochemistry and Planetology, Magmas and deep fluids, Tectonics, Erosion and Evolution of the relief, and Cycles, Atmosphere and Climate. Our approaches include observation of natural systems, geochemical and petrological analyses, numerical modeling and simulation of natural processes.
The Professor will develop innovative and cutting-edge research projects and programs within the framework of the existing research themes of the CRPG and/or in the new fields of isotopic tracing of living organisms and applications (health, ecology, ecotoxicology , remediation, …). Approaches may include the development of geochemical tools for tracing, observation or time measurement, physico-chemical modeling of geological and planetary processes, with the possibility of using other geoscience approaches (sedimentology, tectonics, petrology, paleontology, geomorphology, experimentation, etc.).
