Cosmic Dust Flux Variation Across European K-Pg Sections and Insights into the Impactor’s Source

Fossil micrometeorites (MMs) recovered from lithified sedimentary rocks provide valuable insights into past dust-forming events in space. Their abundances, combined with estimates of local sedimentation rates, can provide empirical evidence for changes in flux of meteoritic material through geological time. This project presents a multi-proxy investigation of fossil MMs from Cretaceous-Palaeogene (K-Pg) successions across Europe (Gubbio, Italy; Stevns Klint, Denmark; Algorri, Spain; Gams, Austria) to refine the possible parent bodies and orbital dynamics of the K-Pg impactor.
